Batteries Included
I am looking to buy a new camera and I notice many of them have a rechargeable but expensive battery included.?
The replacement price of these batteries is $50.00. What is the reasoning for this? My old digital camea uses 2 AA batteries and they work fine.
It's called "Money Honey", for the same reason printer OEMs can give their products away for free when you buy a computer, because they make their money from the ink cartridges. The battery industry has taken us from the alkalines through the rechargeable nicads and the metal hydroxides to the new lithium ones. Every time they package one into a proprietary "box" they make a bigger profit on the replacements.
