WHY DOES MY KITTEN CRY AFTER PLAYING WITH A LASER PEN/POINTER?
My 12 week old kitten never cried unless she was in pain, or had another normal reason for crying.Then i bought a 'cat laser' for her and her sister ( also 12 weeks) to play with. her sister lilly was fine, played with it and that was it. Katie played with it, and then cryed for ages afterwards??? she then started walking round and throwing herself onto the floor and lying there crying like a child. she became very twitchy also jumping up at any sudden movment. have i harmed her in some way???

Your little Katie is extremely frustrated that she is unable to catch the prey! This is one reason why many people think that the laser pointer is a mean game to play because the little red dot kept teasing your little kitty. What you can do for kitty like Katie is to set a play routine so she understands that it's a game.
I always begin by taking out the laser pointer and showing it to my kitty. Let them see it and then point the red dot on your palm and show it again. Then, splash the dot on the floor (in a throwing away like movement) as though you are spilling it. Then have fun with the dots and have Katie chase it around. When it is time to end the game, shine it back onto your palm. Show it to Katie and neatly fold your palms together, to indicate that the dot is now back *(home). Show the laser pointer to your kitty and store it away.
Next, get some treats out and give it to Katie. This way, she has a reward after the game ended, and would likely not end up being frustrated with not being able to catch anything.
